Responsibilities
- Lead hands-on architecture and implementation of scalable, highly available, resilient, and performant Python applications.
- Design and develop software platforms for high-throughput data processing, quantitative calculations, and computation.
- Design, develop, and secure RESTful APIs, integration patterns, and relational and NoSQL database schemas.
- Apply software development lifecycle practices, code reviews, automated testing, continuous integration, and secure coding standards.
- Own technical initiatives including planning, forecasting, project tracking, governance, change management, and team-level technology budgeting.
- Collaborate with Risk Managers, Risk Analytics, Senior Quants, Front Office, DevOps, Production Support, global teams, and external partners.
- Communicate technical matters and project status clearly to development teams and senior business executives.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on application development experience focused primarily on Python, data structures, and algorithms.
- Expert proficiency in Python 3.x, object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, advanced computation libraries, and design patterns.
- Advanced knowledge of FastAPI, Django, Flask, distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architecture, and caching strategies.
- Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, advanced SQL, Unix/Linux, shell scripting, and system-level development.
- Experience with AWS or IBM Symphony Grid, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD systems including Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Bitbucket Pipelines.
- Proficiency with Pytest and unittest, test-driven development, Git, Bitbucket, GitHub, branching, merging, and pull request workflows.
- Experience developing quantitative or calculation-intensive Python solutions using NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy.
- Understanding of market risk, stress testing, Value at Risk, sensitivities, mathematical modeling, and regulatory risk projects.
- Exposure to AI/ML tools and frameworks, generative AI, agentic AI, and development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Devin, Claude, Gemini, and GPT.
- Strong analytical, systems thinking, design thinking, communication, ownership, adaptability, and Agile/Scrum capabilities.
- Preferred qualifications include banking or financial services experience, relevant cloud or industry certifications, CFA certification, or FRM certification.
