Responsibilities
- Refine and execute GoFundMe’s multi-year payments strategy and bring more core payments capabilities in-house.
- Design and implement the end-to-end product lifecycle for payout solutions from ideation to launch and iteration.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and external partners to build next-generation payments infrastructure.
- Own technical decisions across ledgering, money movement, and disbursement while minimizing the cost of future change.
- Mentor engineers through chat, code review, and pair programming and advocate for codebase improvements.
- Lead projects from conception to completion while balancing technical trade-offs, business needs, and stakeholder alignment.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience in payment systems, including areas such as checkout and payment methods, payouts, ledgering, reconciliation, interchange, or KYC/onboarding.
- Deep expertise in payment systems and a track record of building and shipping impactful features.
- Experience architecting scalable services and systems using established design patterns and anticipating future use cases.
- Strong project leadership skills, including balancing technical trade-offs and business needs and communicating with stakeholders.
- Experience analyzing, diagnosing, and preventing performance problems.
- Expertise with application performance monitoring and log analytics tools such as New Relic and Sumo Logic.
- Preferred experience with Spring Boot, Kotlin, AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes, GraphQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Prior experience on a ledgering, payouts, or money-movement team at scale is preferred.
