Base Salary
$110k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Translate design language into reusable components, design tokens, and implementation patterns.
- Ensure consistent and correct use of design system components across the codebase.
- Collaborate with frontend developers on responsive, maintainable, and consistent UI code.
- Implement and maintain a configurable Storybook design system for all products.
- Create tooling and documentation that enables UI developers to use the design system effectively.
- Build accessibility into components using WCAG 2.2 and Section 508 standards.
- Establish design-to-code workflows spanning Figma, component development, prototyping, and automated documentation.
- Advocate for UX best practices in code reviews, design reviews, and cross-functional discussions.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in UX engineering or design-system-focused frontend roles.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS including Sass/SCSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript, with strong React experience.
- Strong experience building and scaling design systems and component libraries with Storybook, design tokens, npm, and monorepos.
- Familiarity with Figma, Zeplin, and design handoff processes.
- Understanding of digital accessibility and experience with axe DevTools, NVDA, JAWS, and Lighthouse.
- Experience with semantic HTML and responsive design patterns.
- Comfort with Git workflows and documenting components for developer adoption.
- Understanding of usability principles and how design decisions affect implementation.
- Preferred: contributions to public design systems or open-source libraries, token pipeline integration, component testing frameworks, AI-assisted design-to-code tools, or regulated and civic-tech environments.
