Base Salary
$180k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and ship polished, end-to-end product features improving student and teacher experiences.
- Partner with product managers and designers on UX, interaction design, and visual quality.
- Shape frontend and full-stack technical direction and translate product goals into implementation plans.
- Improve frontend product quality, performance, accessibility, and maintainability.
- Contribute across prototyping, testing, rollout, and support.
- Collaborate with engineers to design APIs and deliver cohesive end-to-end solutions.
- Mentor and/or manage junior and mid-level engineers and foster high-quality delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
- At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong React and TypeScript experience building production-grade user-facing features at significant scale.
- Modern web application experience with TypeScript and React, plus strong CSS skills using systems such as Tailwind and SCSS.
- Backend experience with technologies such as Kotlin, Python, Go, Rust, or Scala, with willingness to learn Kira’s stack.
- Full-stack fundamentals including APIs and relational databases such as MySQL.
- Experience owning, leading, and shipping complex features with minimal guidance.
- At least 2 years mentoring and/or managing junior and mid-level engineers.
- Familiarity with automated testing and CI/CD practices.
- Clear communication of technical and product tradeoffs to technical and non-technical partners.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, early-stage startup with evolving requirements.
- Preferred: experience integrating and shipping features backed by LLMs or AI APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
