Base Salary
$102k - $219k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and ship AI-powered product experiences across Web, Windows, and Mobile for students and educators.
- Experiment with AI technologies, models, agents, and interaction patterns, turning prototypes into production-quality experiences.
- Create responsive, accessible, inclusive user experiences and efficient reusable frontend systems and architecture.
- Own product features end to end, including discovery, prototyping, implementation, testing, experimentation, rollout, telemetry, production health, and iteration.
- Build across the stack as needed, including service and API integrations, data contracts, authentication, AI orchestration and grounding, experimentation, telemetry, and diagnostics.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Applied Science, UX, and engineering partners to shape product and technical direction.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly while maintaining quality, security, privacy, licensing, and responsible-AI standards.
- Contribute to engineering excellence through learning, collaboration, code reviews, testing, debugging, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including JavaScript or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: 3+ years of software development experience building web applications with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern frontend framework such as React.
- Preferred: experience designing, developing, and shipping high-quality responsive and accessible software.
- Preferred: experience with object-oriented applications or services using C#, Java, C++, or a similar language.
- Preferred: experience designing or integrating APIs and working with distributed cloud services and public clouds such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Preferred: experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, GitHub Copilot CLI, or Claude Code.
- Preferred: ability to evaluate AI-generated output for correctness, maintainability, security, privacy, and licensing.
- Preferred: troubleshooting experience with complex web application or online service issues and effective written, oral, and collaborative communication skills.
- Preferred: familiarity with coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and releasing.
Benefits
- Typical U.S. base pay range is USD $102,100–$202,200 per year; the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area have a separate USD $133,800–$219,200 range.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position is open for a minimum of 5 days and accepts applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
