Responsibilities
- Lead software requirements capture and finalization with flight test engineers, flight operations, pilots, and other stakeholders.
- Lead the design, implementation, integration, and release of safety-critical aircraft and airship software.
- Develop comprehensive software validation and verification test sets and analyze root causes from internal and external testing.
- Lead software development supporting repeatability, reliability, quality, and timing requirements on the airship.
- Develop requirements, design documentation, and test reports for associated simulation software.
- Lead software change requests, merge requests, software reviews, project development activities, and training support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, design, and operations teams throughout experimental vehicle development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Five to seven years of experience in a similar Senior Software Engineer role and responsibilities.
- Proficiency in real-time operating systems, embedded systems development, C#, C++, RTOS, Python, scripting, and GitLab-based CI/CD build and release tooling.
- Experience with common software validation practices and standards.
- Preferred experience with DO-178C or equivalent aviation standards, EE hardware interfaces, embedded C, PLC systems, HMI, cockpit or equipment UI development, and basic frontend/backend software architecture.
- Ability to pass applicable background and drug checks and obtain a NASA Moffett Federal Airfield AOA Badge.
