Responsibilities
- Hire, mentor, and support the career development of other engineers.
- Serve as a primary technical leader for a team and raise standards for technical quality, performance, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Identify opportunities where machine learning can create customer value and frame product problems appropriately.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis and research to understand problem areas.
- Research algorithms and tools, balancing pragmatic solutions with cutting-edge innovation.
- Perform offline evaluations to assess algorithm performance.
- Partner with engineers to bring prototypes into production.
- Plan, measure, and communicate learnings to guide product iteration.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams to build effective ML products.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of applied machine learning experience.
- Previous experience in a senior or staff role in data science, software development, or academia.
- Significant demonstrated impact on products or teams.
- Strong programming skills and communication skills.
- Experience serving as the primary technical leader for a team.
- Typically advanced education in machine learning or a related field, such as an MSc.
- Scientific thinking skills and comfort with ambiguity.
