Responsibilities
- Define and own the GPTI target architecture roadmap across ETRM, trading systems, data platforms, market connectivity, risk, valuation, settlement, reporting, and operational tooling.
- Provide strategic architecture leadership across programs and chair the GPTI Architecture Design Authority.
- Advise VP/SVP-level stakeholders on technology investments, build-versus-buy decisions, and platform direction.
- Lead modernization, migration, upgrade, containment, cloud, hybrid, integration, and platform engineering strategies while protecting 24/7 trading operations.
- Architect front-to-back gas and power trading workflows, including risk, valuation, scheduling, nominations, settlement, confirmations, invoicing, and regulatory reporting.
- Define API, event-driven, messaging, data, market connectivity, observability, resiliency, and non-functional requirement strategies.
- Champion AI, ML, automation, and agentic workflow opportunities within the trading technology estate.
- Govern architecture artifacts and standards, including C4 models, target-state blueprints, data flows, architecture decision records, and lifecycle assessments.
- Mentor architects, technical leads, and senior developers and represent GPTI in enterprise architecture forums.
- Engage vendors on product roadmaps, licensing, technical issues, and innovation opportunities.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in senior architecture or technical leadership within energy trading, commodity trading, or capital markets.
- Strong understanding of enterprise trading platforms and ETRM concepts, including trade lifecycles, configuration, integration, simulation, valuation, and data architecture.
- Experience defining and delivering enterprise architecture for front-to-back trading platforms and associated risk, valuation, settlement, confirmation, and reporting capabilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of European and international gas and power markets, including physical and financial trading, balancing, scheduling, nominations, LNG, and cross-commodity optimization.
- Expertise in high-performance integration architecture, including messaging, APIs, event-driven patterns, ETL/ELT, market data connectivity, and STP workflows.
- Strong data architecture experience with canonical data models, data mesh or fabric, master data management, data lineage, data quality, and governance frameworks.
- Significant experience with AWS or Azure, infrastructure as code, containers, serverless patterns, and hybrid cloud architectures for latency-sensitive workloads.
- Experience producing and governing C4 models, ArchiMate diagrams, target-state blueprints, architecture decision records, non-functional requirement strategies, and data flow diagrams.
- Experience with REMIT, EMIR, MiFID II, and ACER reporting requirements and their impact on trading architecture.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience influencing senior stakeholders across technology, trading, risk, and operations.
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems.
- TOGAF 9 or 10 certification and AWS Solutions Architect certification are desirable.
