Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software features for a large-scale Windows desktop CAM application.
- Diagnose and resolve defects in existing code, including issues spanning unfamiliar subsystems.
- Repair, enhance, and maintain software components using clean, well-tested code.
- Participate in code reviews as both an author and reviewer.
- Learn and apply CAM and manufacturing domain concepts.
- Apply modern C++ and software development best practices within a mature codebase.
- Contribute to technical documentation and internal knowledge bases.
- Consult with senior engineers and management on project status, technical questions, and implementation approaches.
Requirements
- Require 3–5 years of professional software development experience in a production environment.
- Require solid proficiency in C and C++, with preferred exposure to C++11, C++14, or C++17.
- Require experience reading, debugging, and extending existing codebases.
- Require familiarity with Windows desktop application development and debugging tools.
- Require knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
- Require experience with version control in a team setting.
- Require solid math fundamentals and willingness to engage with technical or geometric concepts.
- Prefer experience with Win32, MFC, COM, or other Windows application frameworks.
- Prefer exposure to C# in a mixed-language C++ and managed application context.
- Prefer experience or academic background in CAD, CAM, CNC machining, or manufacturing.
- Prefer familiarity with 3D graphics concepts or APIs such as OpenGL or DirectX.
- Prefer applied mathematics, linear algebra, or computational geometry coursework or background.
- Prefer experience with Perforce or other enterprise version control systems and large-project build systems.
- Require a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
