Base Salary
$143k - $193k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop, train, and benchmark robotic manipulation policies for materials synthesis and characterization using VLA and diffusion-policy architectures.
- Design and execute sim-to-real transfer using domain randomization, physics parameter tuning, and visual domain adaptation.
- Integrate robotic platforms and laboratory instruments through APIs such as SiLA 2 and build real-time multimodal experimental data pipelines.
- Architect policy-training pipelines using teleoperation data, synthetic demonstrations, reinforcement learning, and imitation learning.
- Build production-grade agentic runtime systems with failure detection, retry logic, exception handling, and human-handoff protocols.
- Design autonomous experimental campaigns using active learning, Bayesian optimization, or reinforcement learning.
- Lead technical design reviews and set scientific direction for the autonomous laboratory platform.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience building models for business applications.
- PhD, or a master's degree plus 4+ years of experience in computer science, computer engineering, machine learning, or a related field.
- Experience with patents or publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
- Programming experience in Java, C++, Python, or a related language.
- Experience with algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing.
- Preferred: experience using Unix/Linux.
- Preferred: professional software development experience.
