Responsibilities
- Lead development of the ML-powered document extraction engine
- Improve and scale the LLM- and OCR-based ML extraction engine
- Own backend architecture and infrastructure decisions
- Architect backend systems for performance and scalability
- Build and deploy new automation features for tax firms
- Collaborate closely with the founders on product and user needs
- Help define engineering culture and the technical roadmap
- Help lay the groundwork for the engineering organization while remaining hands-on
Requirements
- 1–5 years of experience, ideally in high-ownership or early-stage environments
- Strong backend development skills, particularly in Python
- Proven 0-to-1 builder through side projects, startup experience, or both
- Willingness to work from the San Francisco office five days per week
- Willingness to complete a technical take-home exercise
- Nice to have experience with LLMs, OCR, or data extraction systems
- Nice to have exposure to AI infrastructure or evaluation frameworks
