Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction and own the architecture for account compromise detection and remediation.
- Independently scope and lead complex, multi-month engineering projects.
- Build and evolve detection systems for account takeover and credential abuse.
- Design automated response flows to minimize disruption to legitimate users.
- Lead investigations into significant compromise incidents and convert findings into automated defenses.
- Threat model potential attacker adaptations and prioritize team efforts accordingly.
- Drive cross-organizational alignment on account security direction.
- Define success metrics for the team's work and uphold those standards.
- Set technical standards and mentor other engineers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in designing and operating detection or security systems.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, ambiguous technical projects.
- Experience making architectural decisions in adversarial domains.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL with strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Experience leading investigations into account-based abuse or security incidents.
- Ability to analyze large datasets to distinguish attacker behavior from legitimate use.
- Strong written communication skills and experience driving alignment across teams.
- Sound judgment regarding the tradeoff between stopping bad actors and user disruption.
