Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services for counterfeit detection.
- Identify emerging counterfeiting patterns and develop new detection capabilities.
- Own complex projects from ideation through production, including RFCs and architecture decisions.
- Build reliable, observable, and cost-aware AI and LLM-based capabilities.
- Collaborate with data and decision scientists to improve detection and models.
- Measure shipped solutions for accuracy and fairness to legitimate sellers.
- Mentor engineers and raise engineering and agentic development standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing, building, and operating production ML- and data-driven backend systems with Go, Ruby, or Python.
- Experience with event-driven systems.
- Understanding of data, machine learning, and LLMs, including model training, evaluation, and retraining.
- Ability to work with data and decision scientists and use data to inform decisions.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex, ambiguous problems and technical decisions.
- Ability to make and explain pragmatic trade-offs between abuse detection and protecting legitimate sellers.
- Curiosity about applying AI and LLMs to counterfeit detection.
- Experience with BigQuery, Vespa, or Temporal is advantageous.
