Responsibilities
- Own the reliability and performance of the Vinted Feature Store, including strict latency SLOs at 400,000+ feature-read requests per second.
- Evaluate, benchmark, and prototype distributed storage technologies as potential replacements for Vespa.
- Build reliable, self-service embedding extraction pipelines that abstract compute and serving complexity.
- Scale and operate the Dataset & Drift Platform for dataset discovery, versioning, and drift monitoring.
- Lead SRE practices for ML Platform services, including SLOs, alerting, runbooks, postmortems, incident response, and toil reduction.
- Build automated data governance for GDPR-compliant feature and dataset lifecycles.
- Support internal ML teams through platform consulting, standards development, developer-experience improvements, and reliability trade-off decisions.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for critical platform services and work with Data Infrastructure, Production Engineering, and ML teams.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of Linux operating systems and distributed systems architecture.
- Experience building and operating internal platforms or high-throughput, low-latency distributed data systems such as NoSQL or key-value stores, Vespa, or Kafka.
- Proven experience with SRE practices including SLOs, observability, and incident management, combined with a platform mindset focused on self-service and automation.
- Experience with some of the listed technologies or similar tools and platforms.
- Strong programming or scripting skills and interest in building platform services and tooling; Go experience is a plus.
- Excellent written and spoken English and strong cross-team consulting and communication skills.
- Curiosity, motivation to grow, and willingness to deepen expertise in the team’s technologies and concepts.
- Experience with feature stores, stream processing, workflow orchestration using Temporal, data drift tooling, or GDPR/data compliance is advantageous.
