Responsibilities

  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable code.
  • Promote appropriate technology and engineering best practices.
  • Partner with teams across Lyft on organizational privacy initiatives.
  • Design, build, and maintain systems that enhance privacy across the organization.
  • Lead tasks independently from idea to execution.
  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing activities such as brown bags and tech talks.
  • Develop controls and continuous testing, and design remediation and risk-mitigation solutions.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to enable privacy by design in products, services, and business processes.
  • Anticipate problems and suggest architectural improvements.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Java, or Go.
  • Exposure to at least one operational or analytical data system such as DynamoDB, Aurora, Redis, or Databricks.
  • Proficiency in at least one query language, including SQL, Cypher, MQL, or PL/SQL.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and the ability to build scalable solutions while learning new technologies rapidly.
  • Ability to write thorough, scalable, and clear design documentation.
  • Ability to manage an independent workload with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools responsibly, such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or AI agents.
  • Willingness to work through ambiguity and develop deployable solutions to complex problems.
  • Knowledge of privacy or security engineering is preferred.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Airflow, Spark, or Jupyter Notebooks is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CCPA, GDPR, and other privacy regulations is preferred.
  • Experience with automation and creating tools for distributed systems is preferred.
