Base Salary
$150k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build API and serving layers using GraphQL and other API technologies for data-intensive product experiences.
- Develop scalable backend services using Java and Kotlin with an emphasis on performance, reliability, and extensibility.
- Build data-driven product experiences involving insights, scoring, dashboards, and customer workflows.
- Optimize data access across APIs, relational databases, caching layers, and analytical data sources.
- Build and maintain React and TypeScript user experiences, reusable components, and frontend application patterns.
- Establish maintainable contracts and boundaries between frontend applications, APIs, and backend services.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews from early product development through enterprise scale.
- Identify and resolve performance and scalability bottlenecks across the full technical stack.
- Troubleshoot production issues using logs, metrics, traces, query analysis, browser debugging, and observability tools.
- Instrument frontend applications with observability and telemetry for production error and performance analysis.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and techniques to improve engineering productivity.
- Participate in code reviews, document technical decisions, and contribute to cross-team engineering initiatives.
- Own features end to end through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of software development experience building production applications, including strong Java experience.
- 4+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and data structures.
- Knowledge of API best practices and experience developing GraphQL services; gRPC experience is a plus.
- Experience writing, analyzing, and troubleshooting SQL and designing and developing relational databases.
- Expertise in software quality and testing practices, including unit, integration, API, and frontend testing.
- 2+ years of experience with React and modern frontend application development.
- Strong TypeScript and JavaScript fundamentals and experience creating maintainable, reusable contracts and component boundaries.
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, browser fundamentals, and accessibility.
- Experience building reusable React components within established frontend architectures and data-flow patterns.
- Ability to debug frontend rendering, network, state-management, and browser-related issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience leveraging AI tooling to accelerate software development.
- Kotlin experience is a plus.
