Base Salary
$120k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, deploy, maintain, and support production software applications.
- Design and build APIs, backend services, and scalable high-volume systems.
- Contribute reusable foundational code, architectural diagrams, technical documentation, and product or tool selection.
- Support security, resilience, performance tuning, disaster recovery, and production monitoring.
- Lead multiple technical initiatives and coordinate the work of small groups of engineers.
- Provide technical direction, remove obstacles, monitor delivery, and maintain ownership from design through production.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions on modern software development frameworks.
- Partner with product, engineering, and stakeholder teams to define developer-ready, understandable, and testable work.
- Develop technical roadmaps, estimate work, debug issues, perform root-cause analysis, and modernize legacy systems.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of work experience in software engineering or a related area.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in a related field.
- Strong backend development experience with Java, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience designing APIs and application or service architectures from scratch.
- Experience with Kafka and/or Pub/Sub technologies for high-volume distributed applications.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery.
- Experience with Elasticsearch and large-scale data storage, search, or retrieval solutions.
- Experience designing and supporting high-volume backend systems and databases, ideally processing millions of transactions or records daily.
- Experience with transactional or financial data platforms such as point-of-sale, e-commerce, self-checkout, payment, receipt, or post-sale transaction systems.
- Ability to design scalable systems for high availability, resiliency, performance, efficiency, disaster recovery, and security.
- Experience leading technical initiatives, coordinating engineers, providing technical direction, and maintaining hands-on ownership.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, testing, version control, debugging, root-cause analysis, and modern software design patterns.
- Experience mentoring engineers and working across multiple teams and projects.
- Strong system design, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and conflict-management skills.
- Must be at least 18 years old and legally permitted to work in the United States.
