Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end design, reliability, performance, and scaling of the Phonehome.next Tier-0 telemetry streaming service.
- Safeguard and evolve Protobuf data contracts and gRPC APIs between physical storage appliances and cloud systems while ensuring correctness, throughput, and backward compatibility.
- Partner with internal engineering teams on architectural integrations, dependency resolution, and onboarding new platform consumers.
- Design and scale event-driven data streaming pipelines using Kafka, MongoDB, Redis, and Apache Iceberg on AWS.
- Participate in a one-week-in-five on-call rotation, conduct blameless postmortems, and drive systemic fixes into production code.
- Automate infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native deployments across AWS and Kubernetes using Terraform.
Requirements
- Extensive experience building, maintaining, and scaling mission-critical, high-throughput distributed systems in production Tier-0 or 24x7 environments.
- Strong proficiency in Go, including concurrent programming, memory management, and network I/O.
- Hands-on expertise with Apache Kafka, Redis, and MongoDB.
- Experience defining APIs and data schemas with gRPC and Protocol Buffers, including backward compatibility and API versioning.
- Experience running containerized workloads on Kubernetes and managing AWS infrastructure with Terraform.
- Exposure to Apache Iceberg, Parquet, or large-scale data lakes is preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to mentor peers through code reviews and blameless postmortems.
