Base Salary
$196k - $245k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development of highly visible, user-facing products that protect Discord users.
- Design, build, and deploy production APIs, backend services, and data pipelines for safety features at scale.
- Develop frontend interfaces for web and mobile platforms.
- Iterate on internal tooling to improve Trust & Safety workflows.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Policy, Data Science, ML, Legal, and Trust & Safety Operations.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex projects, including rollout coordination and stakeholder alignment.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and test complex systems in production.
- Use metrics and dashboards to make data-driven decisions and develop reports.
- Respond to evolving abuse and regulatory compliance needs.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience writing Python and using backend API frameworks such as Flask and Django.
- At least 5 years of experience developing frontend interfaces with JavaScript, React, and TypeScript for web and mobile platforms.
- Familiarity with Cassandra, Postgres, and ScyllaDB.
- Demonstrated success leading complex projects from end to end.
- Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and test complex production systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional partners, designers, and engineers.
- Experience using metrics and dashboards for data-driven decisions and reporting.
- Bonus: experience in safety or anti-abuse, Datadog, Mode, Kafka, Pub-Sub, offline analytics, iOS, Android, Go, Rust, or Elixir.
