Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, analyze, test, document, and implement software operating and application systems.
- Serve as a technical expert, trusted resource, mentor, and consultant for engineering teams.
- Translate functional, non-functional, and implied requirements into thoughtful designs and high-quality code.
- Take accountability for service quality and project delivery while balancing scope, budget, timelines, reliability, and cost.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, gaps, and solutions early in the development process.
- Partner across engineering, Operations, and other disciplines to troubleshoot complex issues, restore services, and improve performance.
- Share technical knowledge through mentoring, presentations, documentation, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Design and execute testing strategies addressing quality, delivery speed, cost, security, scale, reliability, and fault tolerance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least 6 years of software development experience.
- Experience developing web-based applications and web services using Java, ServiceNow, and other web technologies.
- Experience interfacing with databases and integrating third-party products with existing infrastructure.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, and Aurora, as well as non-SQL databases.
- Strong understanding of software development practices, including planning, coding, testing, security, algorithms and complexity, abstraction, reuse, and software development lifecycle models.
- Experience designing scalable, reliable, and cost-conscious software systems, including SaaS and public cloud environments.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, technical leadership, risk-management, mentoring, and collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience with IntelliJ, VS Code, JIRA, Git, Java or another object-oriented language, J2EE, Java EE, JavaScript, SQL, IDM/OSSO, Hibernate/Seam, Banner, legacy-system integration, cloud-native development, cloud migration, AWS, or relevant technical certifications.
- A master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
