Base Salary
$173k - $345k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build agent systems that combine AI reasoning, demonstrations, and deterministic execution for reliable workflow completion.
- Develop recovery, verification, evaluation, and diagnostic capabilities for agent-driven workflows.
- Build backend services with workflow state management, failure handling, and secure access to customer environments.
- Work directly with customers to prototype workflows, validate results, investigate failures, and guide adoption.
- Lead architectural decisions across agent execution, backend services, and workflow state.
- Evaluate model selection, tool use, and context management against reliability, latency, and cost.
- Implement systems hands-on, conduct design reviews, mentor engineers, and participate in hiring.
Requirements
- Experience leading the architecture and delivery of complex backend systems through deployment, production failures, and subsequent improvements.
- Hands-on experience shipping and operating LLM-powered systems, including using evaluations and production failures to inform design decisions.
- Ability to reason about concurrency, persistent state, retries, and partial failures in systems performing consequential actions.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Ability to turn ambiguous customer problems into bounded technical approaches, test them with users, and lead them through production.
- Willingness to engage directly with customers on technical investigations and tradeoffs.
- Helpful experience with agent tool use, code generation, automated recovery, evaluation frameworks, browser automation, workflow orchestration, enterprise integrations, early-stage products, or customer-facing engineering.

- The role offers a base salary range of $172,500-$313,700 annually, with a range of $207,800-$344,700 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan areas; bonus, equity, and other incentives may apply.
