Base Salary

$220k - $350k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Apply AI to biological research problems in collaboration with postdoctoral fellows and other research collaborators
  • Design, build, and deploy AI agents and tools for neuroscience, molecular biology, genetics, and other biological domains
  • Teach fellows and collaborators to build, adapt, and use AI tools through ongoing technical coaching and support
  • Develop and deliver practical technical instruction, workshops, and curriculum covering AI agents, LLM-powered applications, and related tools
  • Provide technical software solutions and identify opportunities where AI can have the greatest impact on scientific research
  • Manage complex, multi-stakeholder technical projects and collaborate closely with researchers to understand their goals, workflows, and constraints

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of machine-learning and software engineering experience, including a track record of shipping production-quality software used by real users
  • Strong engineering foundation with proficiency in Python and the ability to learn new tools and frameworks quickly
  • Experience building with LLMs, AI/ML systems, agent architectures, or AI-enabled applications
  • An M.S. in science or equivalent research experience in an academic lab or life sciences company
  • Ability to operate independently, build from scratch, clarify ambiguous situations, and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, mentor, or train technical or scientific audiences
  • Strong project management skills, including scoping ambiguous problems, prioritizing, managing dependencies, and completing work
  • Willingness and ability to learn new scientific domains quickly
  • Ph.D. or equivalent research experience in biology, chemistry, bioengineering, computational biology, neuroscience, or a related scientific discipline is preferred
  • Fluency in TypeScript and/or other programming languages is preferred
