Responsibilities
- Apply AI to biological research problems in collaboration with postdoctoral fellows and other research collaborators
- Design, build, and deploy AI agents and tools for neuroscience, molecular biology, genetics, and other biological domains
- Teach fellows and collaborators to build, adapt, and use AI tools through ongoing technical coaching and support
- Develop and deliver practical technical instruction, workshops, and curriculum covering AI agents, LLM-powered applications, and related tools
- Provide technical software solutions and identify opportunities where AI can have the greatest impact on scientific research
- Manage complex, multi-stakeholder technical projects and collaborate closely with researchers to understand their goals, workflows, and constraints
Requirements
- At least 5 years of machine-learning and software engineering experience, including a track record of shipping production-quality software used by real users
- Strong engineering foundation with proficiency in Python and the ability to learn new tools and frameworks quickly
- Experience building with LLMs, AI/ML systems, agent architectures, or AI-enabled applications
- An M.S. in science or equivalent research experience in an academic lab or life sciences company
- Ability to operate independently, build from scratch, clarify ambiguous situations, and manage multiple responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, mentor, or train technical or scientific audiences
- Strong project management skills, including scoping ambiguous problems, prioritizing, managing dependencies, and completing work
- Willingness and ability to learn new scientific domains quickly
- Ph.D. or equivalent research experience in biology, chemistry, bioengineering, computational biology, neuroscience, or a related scientific discipline is preferred
- Fluency in TypeScript and/or other programming languages is preferred
