Responsibilities
- Lead technical outcomes for a team of engineers through mentorship, guidance, and support.
- Partner with recruiting to attract and hire top talent.
- Build scalable, reliable, and efficient data pipelines.
- Develop subject matter expertise and manage SLAs for data pipelines and full-stack web applications.
- Create and improve canonical datasets and data warehouses in collaboration with product managers and peers.
- Use AI, LLMs, and agents at scale to produce and analyze high-quality data for ambiguous problems.
- Drive key data initiatives through the full development lifecycle from planning to delivery.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, innovative, and supportive engineering environment.
Requirements
- Typically 10+ years of experience building and operating data systems, pipelines, warehouses, and infrastructure while leading teams.
- Strong engineering background with experience writing and debugging data pipelines using a distributed data framework.
- Experience investigating data inconsistencies and resolving deep-rooted data quality issues.
- Knowledge of a backend development language such as Scala, Java, or Go, along with strong SQL experience.
- Strong customer focus and the ability to partner with product leaders, business stakeholders, and engineers.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, communicate clearly, and make or coordinate difficult decisions and trade-offs.
- Ability to work with high autonomy and responsibility in an ambiguous environment.
- Preferred experience with Iceberg, Kafka, Change Data Capture, Flink, Spark, Airflow, Hive Metastore, Pinot, Trino, and AWS Cloud.
- Preferred experience contributing to open source, maintaining data marts or warehouses, and collaborating with Product, Go-To-Market, Sales, or Marketing teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for leadership, users, and company-wide audiences.
