Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, deployment, and production support of scalable full-stack applications and microservices.
- Build modern frontend experiences with React and/or Angular and backend services with Java and Spring Boot.
- Own complex features, services, architecture contributions, and technical initiatives through the complete software development lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership for code quality, scalability, performance, reliability, security, modernization, developer productivity, and maintainability.
- Write maintainable code and promote automated testing, code reviews, secure development, observability, and continuous improvement.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across application, integration, infrastructure, and data layers, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Participate in shared on-call support and improve monitoring, documentation, operational readiness, and support practices.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with architects, product partners, and business stakeholders to create secure and scalable technical solutions and roadmaps.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant full-stack development and demonstrated technical leadership.
- Strong Java expertise, including core fundamentals, concurrency, JVM performance, and RESTful service development with Spring Boot.
- Strong experience building modern web applications with React and/or Angular and using component-based development and automated testing practices.
- Experience designing secure and scalable APIs and systems with versioning, testing, resiliency, observability, and maintainability practices.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL, including SQL optimization and application integration; NoSQL familiarity is a plus.
- Experience with cloud-native development, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, containerization, and at least one major cloud provider, preferably AWS.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives, evaluate tradeoffs, influence design decisions, guide implementation, and resolve complex production issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in Agile/Scrum environments with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Preferred experience includes AWS cloud-native applications, Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS, Kafka, JMS, SQS, Datadog, New Relic, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, OAuth2, JWT, TLS, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Experience in regulated financial services or healthcare environments is preferred, with retirement services experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to establish engineering standards, reusable frameworks, documentation, and delivery practices that improve team effectiveness.
