Base Salary
$195k - $229k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy and direction for critical platform surface areas.
- Design and evolve APIs, primitives, and self-service paths for internal teams, partners, and customers.
- Own authentication, data-ingestion, and schema-evolution primitives for secure and reliable integrations.
- Build secure, documented, scalable backend services and developer tooling, including CI/CD.
- Drive performance, operational excellence, and software development lifecycle best practices.
- Make and defend buy-versus-build and one-way-door decisions.
- Mentor and develop teammates and establish standardized design patterns.
- Build with TypeScript, React, and Node.js and use AI tools to accelerate development and workflows.
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend development experience building reliable, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems.
- Deep experience evolving core APIs, SDKs, and platform abstractions, including RESTful APIs, GraphQL, OAuth, API keys, JWT, and security best practices.
- Experience building resilient data ingestion integrations with cloud providers, HRIS platforms, identity providers, and code repositories.
- Knowledge of rate limiting, retries, idempotency, webhooks, and handling schema drift.
- Ability to design for scale, reliability, and failure modes and proactively address risks.
- Experience leading teams and complex projects and influencing decisions across an organization.
- Experience creating sample integrations, proofs of concept, AI Skills, documentation, and workshops for internal engineering enablement.
- Bonus experience includes startup or bias-for-action environments, greenfield work, multi-region or government deployments, and security or compliance products.
- Willingness to use AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
