Test Engineer - Performance QA

- Own performance testing for assigned projects from requirements analysis through sign-off.
- Design workload models, test scenarios, test data strategies, and environment prerequisites.
- Develop, maintain, and execute performance test scripts using JMeter or equivalent tools.
- Execute load, stress, endurance/soak, spike, and scalability tests and capture key metrics.
- Monitor applications, databases, and infrastructure during test runs and produce actionable reports.
- Analyze results, identify bottlenecks and risks, recommend tuning, and coordinate retesting.
- Collaborate with architects, functional QA, developers, and DevOps/cloud teams to validate fixes and configuration changes.
- Maintain test plans, scripts, datasets, execution logs, and result summaries.
- Share performance testing practices with functional QA and junior team members.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of overall software QA experience, including at least 3 years focused on performance testing of web or enterprise applications.
- Hands-on experience with at least one performance testing tool such as JMeter or Gatling; LoadRunner or similar is a plus.
- Understanding of response time, throughput, concurrency, error rates, capacity, and SLAs.
- Ability to interpret and correlate application/JVM, database, and infrastructure performance metrics.
- Experience with monitoring or APM tools such as Datadog, AppDynamics, or New Relic.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Preferred experience with Guidewire applications such as PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, or BillingCenter.
- Preferred exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP, distributed architectures, and Professional Services or customer-facing delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
