Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own backend services for global liquidity management, safeguarding, investment workflows, and cash data management.
- Develop systems that position funds efficiently across entities, accounts, and currencies.
- Build platforms for liquidity forecasting, cash positioning, internal fund movement, funding optimization, and operational decision-making.
- Support safeguarding compliance through regulatory reporting, segregation of funds, reconciliation, and control processes.
- Enhance investment platform capabilities for safe and compliant surplus-fund management.
- Build data pipelines, models, and analytics for cash positions, liquidity usage, fund flows, and optimization opportunities.
- Design and operate distributed systems using backend services, event-driven workflows, Kafka, gRPC, REST APIs, and SQL/NoSQL data stores.
- Implement controls for limits, approvals, reconciliation, data quality, monitoring, and auditability.
- Own features end to end from requirements clarification and solution design through implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with Product, Treasury, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Data, and engineering teams on reliable APIs, data contracts, and workflows.
- Instrument services with metrics, logs, and tracing to support capacity planning, performance optimization, incident response, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and the on-call rotation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building and operating backend systems in production.
- Strong programming experience in one or more JVM languages such as Kotlin or Java, or a comparable backend stack, with willingness to work primarily in the JVM ecosystem.
- Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals including concurrency, data consistency, idempotency, retries, backoff, and networked-service failure modes.
- Experience designing and working with REST and/or gRPC APIs and persistence layers using relational databases such as PostgreSQL and/or key-value stores.
- Proficiency with event-driven architectures and message brokers or streams such as Kafka.
- Strong testing and quality focus, including unit, integration, and contract tests, plus familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of observability through metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting, including debugging production issues.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and comfort working with cross-functional partners.
- Preferred experience in fintech, payments, treasury, banking, liquidity management, safeguarding, investment platforms, regulatory reporting, or financial data systems.
- Preferred experience with auditability, reconciliation, controls, approval workflows, financial correctness, data-intensive systems, cash-flow analytics, forecasting, reporting, operational dashboards, or global multi-market platforms.
