Base Salary
$140k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead design and architecture for major Developer Experience capabilities and make technical decisions for complex, ambiguous assignments.
- Build and improve internal developer platforms, service catalogs, scorecards, self-service workflows, integrations, and AI resources.
- Connect developer tools with source control, CI/CD, observability, identity, cloud, and work-management systems.
- Drive adoption by treating engineering teams as internal customers, explaining trade-offs, providing documentation, training, and office hours, and tracking adoption and workflow metrics.
- Establish responsible AI and engineering standards for quality, security, privacy, governance, permissions, telemetry, evaluation, tool support, and cost.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, Architecture, QA, SRE, InfoSec, IAM, and R&D Operations.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and help them develop technical judgment and broader ownership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Track record of leading technical initiatives across multiple engineers or systems.
- Deep expertise in frontend or backend technologies supporting a platform, plus experience with cloud architecture.
- Professional hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Devin, Windsurf, or similar tools.
- Preferred experience includes internal developer portals such as Backstage, service catalogs, metadata standards, dependency views, engineering scorecards, scaffolding, self-service workflows, and developer-tool integrations.
- Preferred experience includes taking internal platforms or engineering tools through design, rollout, support, and ongoing improvement; writing technical documentation; and helping engineers adopt tools and practices.
- Preferred experience includes building AI tools, reusable skills, workflow harnesses, evaluation workflows, developer-facing automation, and controls for identity, permissions, telemetry, governance, security, privacy, or cost.
- Language and platform polyglot experience or curiosity is preferred.
