Responsibilities
- Architect, build, deploy, and maintain production-grade machine learning workflows and microservices for power market forecasting and electricity grid modeling.
- Convert statistical and machine learning research prototypes into scalable, production-ready Python applications.
- Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and systems for high-throughput time-series data, event streams, and normalization routines.
- Implement automated model training, backtesting, evaluation, tuning, and model and feature versioning practices.
- Build clean data ingestion and transformation pipelines with strong validation, integrity, and low-latency access.
- Write modular, well-tested Python code and participate in code reviews, CI/CD automation, and Agile delivery.
Requirements
- Approximately two to five years of experience as a data-focused software engineer.
- Significant experience working with large production Python codebases rather than exclusively with notebooks.
- Deep understanding of electricity-grid fundamentals, including generation, transmission, and electricity markets.
- Experience with data engineering, PostgreSQL or similar databases, database design, data normalization, and time-series and event data.
- Experience with data science and machine learning research, including statistics, hypothesis testing, model training, evaluation, backtesting, tuning, and model selection.
- Practical machine learning engineering experience, including model and feature versioning.
- Confidence with Git and code reviews, plus strong written and spoken English.
- Preferred experience deploying ML workloads on AWS or GCP with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Preferred familiarity with Apache Airflow, Kubeflow, MLflow, or real-time streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka.
