Base Salary
$208k - $312k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-scale internal observability systems for metrics, logs, and traces.
- Develop cost attribution and chargeback tooling to map infrastructure spend to the responsible parts of the business.
- Partner with Backend and Platform teams to instrument services for compliance, auditing, and record keeping.
- Evaluate, integrate, and help operate observability infrastructure across existing vendors and the CNCF ecosystem.
- Scale observability infrastructure to handle the throughput and cardinality of Vercel’s production traffic.
- Deliver visibility improvements that optimize how Vercel builds, deploys, and operates its systems.
Requirements
- Proficiency in TypeScript with backend or infrastructure experience.
- Hands-on production experience with Go, Rust, or Zig.
- Experience with distributed computing systems at scale.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, including object storage.
- Familiarity with observability tooling such as Datadog, Grafana, New Relic, Splunk, or CNCF-based Prometheus-compatible backends.
- Contributions to or close work with CNCF observability projects are a bonus.
- Experience building, scaling, and improving internal developer platforms is a bonus.
