Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy full-stack web applications, including database schemas, back-end services, front-end applications, and web-based user interfaces.
- Build machine-to-machine services and REST APIs integrating with systems across Rocket Lab.
- Develop software and unit tests for bug fixes and feature requests, and document software operations.
- Review and approve code merge requests and help establish code review standards.
- Facilitate architecture meetings and approve software architecture designs and requirements.
- Manage trade studies and support technical decisions.
- Refine backlog items, approve definitions of ready, and help prioritize the backlog.
- Facilitate scrum activities and maintain scrum information such as velocity and retrospective minutes.
- Meet with stakeholders to understand requirements and align projects with business needs.
- Deploy operational software, support users, and provide user training.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers and help define team best practices.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in a relevant discipline.
- Strong experience designing and building REST APIs.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript development.
- Experience with Node.js and Angular or another front-end framework such as React or Vue.
- Experience using Linux as a development environment and proficiency in Git.
- Strong problem-solving, judgment, communication, planning, and prioritization skills.
- Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes is preferred.
- Experience with network programming, Node.js/npm build systems and tooling, Elasticsearch, relational database schemas, and service-oriented architectures is preferred.
- Experience facilitating agile or scrum ceremonies, serving as a technical lead, or mentoring and coaching engineers is preferred.
- Interest in aerospace, manufacturing, or similarly complex engineering environments is preferred.
