Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Kubernetes controllers and operators that automate the lifecycle of platform services.
  • Contribute to a global workload placement system across public cloud and on-premises Kubernetes clusters.
  • Develop Kubernetes APIs and Custom Resource Definitions for platform capabilities.
  • Build reconciliation logic for safely managing distributed system state.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management of Kubernetes platform components.
  • Improve platform reliability, scalability, observability, and maintainability.
  • Investigate production issues and participate in root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with platform and service teams on automation for large-scale distributed systems.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes architecture, lifecycle, and core concepts across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Experience developing software in Go or another modern programming language, with interest in Go development.
  • Experience building software for Linux-based environments.
  • Experience developing Kubernetes controllers, operators, or Kubernetes APIs.
  • At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes reconciliation patterns, declarative system design, and Communicating Sequential Processes.
  • Experience using Kubernetes in production and operating distributed systems across public cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with controller-runtime, Kubebuilder, Custom Resource Definitions, Common Expression Language rules, Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps workflows.
  • Experience with bare-metal infrastructure, hybrid cloud, or multi-cluster Kubernetes deployments is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Cluster API, SIG Multicluster, Karmada, or other Kubernetes ecosystem projects is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, ownership, and learning skills; open-source contributions in the Kubernetes or CNCF ecosystem are a plus.
