Responsibilities
- Build and maintain high-quality, scalable distributed backend systems for financial-crime mitigation and servicing automation.
- Design technical solutions that balance latency, throughput, scalability, and system complexity.
- Lead implementation of solutions and drive complex projects from problem definition through delivery.
- Develop rich APIs and infrastructure that support automation and cross-team platform adoption.
- Collaborate with other Wise teams and document systems at an appropriate level of abstraction.
- Improve the codebase, architecture, and development processes.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Strong backend development skills with Java or other JVM-based languages.
- Experience with the Spring framework, databases, and distributed systems.
- Ability to decompose complex features into deliverable components.
- Ability to take ownership of complex problems and deliver measurable customer impact.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Product-first and customer-first mindset with the ability to use data to prioritize decisions.
- Ability to design scalable technical solutions and willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and patterns.
- Passion for mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
