Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable frontend applications and shared components for KFC digital commerce experiences.
- Build responsive, accessible, high-performance interfaces for browsing, customization, ordering, and checkout using React, Next.js, and modern web technologies.
- Lead architecture discussions, drive technical decisions, and escalate appropriately to Staff and Principal engineers.
- Set code quality standards and mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, onboarding, and technical guidance.
- Own technical scoping, estimation, delivery risks, and cross-functional planning for team deliverables.
- Partner with Product, Design, Backend, QA, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Analytics, and market stakeholders on end-to-end customer journeys.
- Support market-specific development while maintaining a scalable core platform and consistent user experience.
- Collaborate on analytics instrumentation, A/B testing, experimentation, SEO, and conversion improvements.
- Plan releases, phased rollouts, and continuous delivery practices.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve application reliability, performance, and customer experience through monitoring and observability.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices to improve productivity and code quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 4 years building and operating modern React-based production applications in customer-facing environments.
- Experience mentoring or leading engineers and raising a team’s technical standards.
- Experience breaking down ambiguous problems, scoping deliverables, and driving technical decisions.
- Experience designing scalable frontend applications for customer-facing digital products and applying modern web architecture practices.
- Experience delivering modern web applications in high-traffic e-commerce, retail, or consumer digital environments.
- Experience building internationalized or multi-market applications.
- Strong JavaScript or TypeScript, React or Next.js, HTML, CSS, responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, state management, API integration, rendering, performance, accessibility, and frontend testing skills.
- Experience with component-based architecture, reusable UI systems, CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or Claude.
- Experience with design systems, analytics instrumentation, experimentation, SEO, cloud-native application deployment, monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability.
- Preferred experience with React Native or mobile application development, server-side rendering, static site generation, component-driven development, GraphQL, REST APIs, Contentful, feature flagging, A/B testing platforms, AWS, and observability tooling.
- Experience with e-commerce, digital ordering, loyalty, restaurant technology, retail operations, or consumer-facing web applications is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, analytical, collaboration, and English communication skills.
