Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain pipelines ingesting, transforming, and delivering structured and unstructured data.
- Engineer logical and physical data-domain segmentation based on business rules, regulatory requirements, and security boundaries.
- Implement data access controls, classification rules, and protection mechanisms for secure separation across environments.
- Build scalable architectures supporting analytics, AI/ML, digital products, and data-driven decisions.
- Translate business and compliance requirements into secure, reliable data engineering solutions with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Optimize workflows for performance, observability, and resiliency across cloud and hybrid platforms.
- Develop reusable automation, governance-aligned frameworks, and secure data enablement patterns.
- Support production data systems with attention to integrity, lineage, and access auditability.
Requirements
- University degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced related degree and at least 3 years of experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required for access to the program or contract.
- Experience engineering pipelines for structured and unstructured data, enterprise content repositories, and file systems.
- Ability to segment, classify, or secure data sets according to business, legal, or compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data processing frameworks such as Spark, PySpark, Databricks, EMR, or Glue.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and their native data services.
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, distributed systems, data modeling, and secure data architecture.
- Ability to collaborate across technical and business functions in Agile teams.
- Preferred qualifications include secure data-environment design, document processing, OCR, text extraction, image handling, data governance, lineage, auditability, SharePoint and file-share integration, AI/ML data preparation, Terraform, CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and regulated-industry experience.
