Responsibilities
- Design and ship backend Java services for SIXT’s cloud-native mobility platform.
- Own customer-facing distributed systems from problem definition through production operation and fixes.
- Design and build microservices, APIs, features, and internal engineering tooling.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to shape solutions and product direction.
- Handle end-to-end service responsibility, including building, testing, deploying, monitoring, and on-call support.
- Apply agentic workflows by orchestrating agents, judging their output, and tuning evaluation loops.
- Improve service reliability, scalability, observability, metrics, and alerting in production.
Requirements
- Development experience with Java and mandatory experience with Spring Boot.
- Experience designing microservices and event-driven architectures for reliability, scalability, idempotency, and maintainability.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, JPA/Hibernate, Flyway, Redis, and Kafka.
- Comfort with Kubernetes-based operations, observability, metrics, alerting, and production service ownership.
- Experience running agentic workflows and evaluating and tuning agent output is required by the role’s AI-native engineering approach.
- Familiarity with Go is beneficial.
- Ability to understand customer problems, move across the stack, and explain technical trade-offs in business language.
