Base Salary
$135k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain cloud-based backend systems, APIs, event-driven services, and data pipelines.
- Develop and integrate services with Firestore, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Kafka, Docker, and other GCP-native components.
- Own the full software lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, automated testing, performance tuning, documentation, and verification.
- Improve developer efficiency, automation, monitoring, observability, and cloud cost optimization.
- Participate in code reviews and promote best practices in API design, security, testing, DevOps, and cloud architecture.
- Modernize and refactor existing internal applications and diagnose issues across lower environments and production.
- Use GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and JIRA to manage development and releases.
- Collaborate with QA and SRE teams and participate in on-call rotations as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 8–12 years of related experience, or a master’s degree and 5–7 years of equivalent industry experience, or a PhD and 2–4 years of experience.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Kotlin, and shell scripting.
- Experience building distributed, cloud-native backend services on GCP.
- Hands-on experience with Pub/Sub and Kafka for messaging and streaming.
- Proficiency with Firestore and Cloud SQL for data persistence and querying.
- Experience building and deploying services using Docker and container-based environments.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly, including AI-assisted development tools, and manage shifting priorities across multiple projects.
