Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, maintain, and support the Expedia Group Data Quality Platform.
- Design moderately complex systems and build robust, scalable, high-performance platform applications.
- Mentor Individual Contributor I and II engineers and lead by example as an influential individual contributor.
- Guide integrations across teams within the business unit.
- Create team project systems and lead complex, vaguely defined projects.
- Advocate for project quality through testing, monitoring, and alerting.
- Establish team-level operational-excellence metrics and guide the design of testable and observable software.
- Identify team-level business problems and provide solutions aligned with business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 3 years of professional Java development experience as a Java Software Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
- Experience with Java frameworks and technologies such as Spring, Hibernate, and JPA.
- Experience using agentic coding tools such as Claude, Co-Pilot, or Codex.
- Experience with databases and SQL, preferably with specific database technologies.
- Knowledge of version control systems, preferably Git.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Preferred: experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
- Preferred: familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Preferred: experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Preferred: knowledge of DevOps practices and tools such as Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with data-quality tools and data-anomaly detection is a plus.
