Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert and technical advisor for complex systems, architecture, and engineering challenges.
- Lead architecture, design, development, modernization, and evolution of large-scale cross-domain software systems and platform capabilities.
- Design and develop scalable backend APIs, distributed systems, cloud-native services, and high-volume data-processing capabilities.
- Drive technical strategy, architectural decisions, technology evaluations, and roadmaps across multiple teams and domains.
- Own service health, reliability, scalability, observability, production readiness, incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
- Establish secure, privacy-conscious, compliant, maintainable, testable, and operationally ready engineering practices.
- Champion responsible AI adoption, lead proofs of concept, and develop reusable AI-enabled engineering tools and practices.
- Mentor engineers, lead architecture and technical knowledge-sharing sessions, participate in technical interviews, and raise the engineering quality bar.
- Lead complex initiatives and programs, resolve cross-team dependencies, and influence execution without relying on formal authority.
- Partner with Product, Architecture, Compliance, Customer Support, SRE, and business stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience designing and leading complex enterprise software systems.
- Deep expertise in .NET development and experience architecting scalable backend services, APIs, distributed systems, and enterprise applications.
- Strong knowledge of distributed-system architecture, design patterns, scalability, resiliency, concurrency, performance, and data consistency.
- Strong SQL and data-modeling experience, cloud-platform experience, and experience with distributed caching technologies.
- Experience with observability platforms such as Grafana, Kibana, or OpenTelemetry.
- Ability to lead technically complex, multi-team initiatives and translate broadly defined business outcomes into executable technical solutions.
- Experience leading complex production incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps practices, production operations, service ownership, secure software development, and sensitive customer data handling.
- Hands-on experience applying AI-assisted development tools and workflows to real engineering problems.
- Ability to mentor engineers, influence technical decisions beyond the immediate team, communicate complex concepts, and operate independently in ambiguous situations.
- Preferred experience includes payroll, tax, HR, fintech, compliance, financial systems, regulated domains, high-volume transaction processing, cloud-native microservices, platform modernization, system migrations, observability standards, performance engineering, resilient architectures, AI agents, engineering automation, technical roadmaps, and technical thought leadership.
