Responsibilities
- Define solution architecture and modernization roadmaps for resilient, scalable, observable data pipelines and microservices.
- Establish standards for API design, event-driven integration, data modeling, testing, CI/CD, and operational readiness.
- Architect, design, and build Java and Spring Boot services using cloud storage, serverless technologies, Kubernetes, and event-streaming patterns.
- Lead data processing solutions using Apache Spark, YuniKorn, Apache Beam, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and related cloud platforms.
- Own production reliability through monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, performance tuning, incident resolution, resilience improvements, and cost optimization.
- Use AI tooling and large language models to support engineering work and build automation for scripting, tooling, and testing.
- Collaborate through code reviews, pair debugging, performance tuning, and production incident resolution.
- Coach and mentor engineers while communicating technical plans, milestones, risks, dependencies, and mitigations to senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, GKE, CI/CD pipelines, and GitLab CI/CD.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver or Cloud Monitoring, and distributed tracing.
- Knowledge of cloud and Kubernetes security, secrets management, IAM, network segmentation, and secure software development practices.
- Data engineering experience with Apache Spark and proficiency in Python or Spark SQL.
- Advanced SQL, data modeling, cloud storage, and file formats including Parquet and Iceberg.
- Experience with DocumentDB, SBT, containerized applications, autoscaling, load balancing, and end-to-end DevOps pipelines.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence is required.
- Hands-on AI tooling experience, preferably including Model Context Protocol integration; familiarity with Claude Code, SpecKit, specification-driven development, and AI/LLM technologies is desirable.
- Exposure to React and TypeScript is helpful but not essential.
- Understanding of financial accounting, credit risk, market risk, operational risk, and regulatory reporting is required.
