Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software applications using Scala and Scala best practices.
- Build Spark solutions using RDDs, transformations, actions, DataFrames, DataSets, and Scala notebooks.
- Integrate third-party libraries and APIs with Scala applications.
- Optimize code for performance, efficiency, scalability, and high-volume data processing.
- Perform developer, automated, performance, load, and test-driven testing.
- Review team members’ code and recommend improvements related to coding standards, performance, security, and best practices.
- Participate in design, architecture, requirements, debugging, scrum, and technical discussion meetings.
- Prepare design notes, development test cases, work breakdown structures, estimates, and status reports.
- Provide guidance and training to team members and help improve delivery against planned timelines.
- Maintain awareness of current Scala developments and frameworks.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on development experience specifically in Scala and Spark.
- Experience with RDDs, Spark actions and transformations, in-memory processing, DataFrames, DataSets, and Scala notebooks.
- Experience optimizing code for performance and efficiency and working with high-volume data transactions.
- Understanding of database read and write queries, data volumes, NoSQL databases, distributed computing, and Databricks.
- Basic experience with Cassandra, Astra, debugging, and information security.
- Hands-on experience with IntelliJ and exposure to GitHub, Azure DevOps, code maintenance, and release processes.
- Knowledge of developer testing, performance and load testing, software development life cycle practices, and agile methodologies.
- Degree in software engineering, computer science, or a similar field.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
