Base Salary
$160k - $251k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of reusable software components for reliable and scalable AI/ML workflows, tools, and applications.
- Collaborate with computational biologists, bioinformaticians, data scientists, software engineers, and AI/ML engineers to identify research questions, define data requirements, and develop AI/ML solutions.
- Provide tactical and strategic technical support to AI/ML researchers and data scientists.
- Build and scale transformer-based foundation model and representation-learning pipelines for downstream tasks.
- Maintain Python packages and Docker images across the full software development lifecycle using modern DevSecOps practices.
- Stay current with AI/ML research and operations and propose innovative approaches that improve internal capabilities.
Requirements
- PhD in a related STEM field plus 4 or more years of post-graduate academic medical or industry experience, a master's degree plus 7 or more years of experience, or a bachelor's degree plus 11 or more years of experience.
- Experience with Python, PyTorch, AWS, MLflow, Docker, GitHub, and GitHub Actions CI/CD workflows.
- Experience building, deploying, and scaling AI/ML pipelines, particularly transformer-based foundation models and representation learning systems.
- Ability to lead projects independently and provide technical support to code-focused AI/ML engineers and data scientists.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration, teaching, and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary environments.
- Interest in life sciences problems and agentic co-scientist environments.
- Preferred experience with multi-omics data, imaging data, Claude Code, Databricks, and GCP.
