Base Salary
$60k - $75k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, upgrade, and patch highly available Apache Kafka clusters with minimal downtime.
- Administer Kafka security protocols, access controls, ACLs, and compliance controls.
- Monitor Kafka cluster health, performance, lag, and reliability using Prometheus and Grafana.
- Troubleshoot broker outages, replication lag, platform incidents, and outages, including root cause analysis.
- Develop automation scripts and custom Kafka tooling for provisioning, configuration, monitoring, deployments, and maintenance.
- Manage Kafka topics, partitions, Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, MirrorMaker, and KRaft components.
- Plan cluster resources and support Kafka resiliency, disaster recovery, and observability for Kafka nodes.
- Deploy Kafka clusters on OpenShift Kubernetes using vendor-provided Helm charts and Docker images.
- Set up data ingestion and streaming pipelines between Kafka and other data platforms, including Solr.
- Work with engineering teams to onboard Kafka use cases and meet security and compliance standards.
Requirements
- Minimum years of Kafka administration experience, ideally with Confluent Kafka, are required.
- Proficiency in Linux and Python or Bash scripting is required.
- Hands-on knowledge of Kafka monitoring tools and security protocols is required.
- Experience with Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, MirrorMaker, Schema Registry, ZooKeeper, and KRaft is expected.
- Experience with OpenShift Kubernetes, Helm charts, Docker images, Ansible, and Terraform is required or relevant to the role.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology, or a master's degree in Software Engineering, is listed.
- English proficiency at C2 level is required.
