Senior Software Engineer I
Thought MachineResponsibilities
- Design and build reliable, secure, scalable software solutions for complex problems.
- Contribute to architecture, security, performance, cost, and reliability standards.
- Review design documents and pull requests and uphold high code-quality standards.
- Investigate production issues across multiple services and improve systems based on operational incidents.
- Own work items end to end, including delivery planning, dependency management, and production delivery.
- Partner with Product Managers to prioritize features and translate client requirements into technical specifications.
- Own incident resolution, including mitigation, fixes, and post-mortem documentation.
- Lead technical interviews and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Communicate technical problems and architectural decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in modern backend languages, ideally Go or Python.
- Experience building distributed, cloud-native systems using technologies such as Kubernetes, AWS or GCP, gRPC, and PostgreSQL.
- Proven ability to break down ambiguous and complex problems into clear, deliverable milestones.
- Experience supporting high-throughput production systems and diagnosing complex distributed-system issues.
- Collaborative, feedback-receptive approach focused on client and business outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documenting technical designs and building consensus.
