Base Salary
$180k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Improve the reliability, scalability, efficiency, and customer experience of mission-critical backend services.
- Understand and improve existing services, including analyzing runtime and cost efficiency.
- Lead development of new services such as a Kubernetes operator or cloud storage caching layer.
- Contribute to technology evaluations, architecture evolution, and the hardening and productization of libraries and services.
- Re-evaluate the relationship between backend services and the user-facing application to improve scalability.
- Collaborate with backend, infrastructure, application engineering, and customer support teams.
Requirements
- Proficiency with Rails or another full-stack framework, including ActiveRecord or an analogous ORM, database schema design, and query performance optimization.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes and Go or another systems language, including understanding of garbage collection and profiling.
- Familiarity with GCP/GKE, Linux, Docker, Ruby/Rails, Redis, and ffmpeg, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience working in a SaaS or PaaS environment at comparable scale, supporting hundreds of millions of asynchronous jobs per week.
- Video streaming at scale experience is a bonus.
- Curiosity, pragmatism, resilience, attention to detail, independence, strong collaboration, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences are required.
