Responsibilities
- Define cross-team technical strategy, architecture, and a multi-year roadmap for backend services supporting Stripe’s merchant-facing experiences.
- Lead the design and delivery of scalable backend services for the Dashboard, mobile applications, and other user interfaces.
- Build reusable platform capabilities that help product teams develop, operate, and improve their products.
- Partner with engineers, product managers, and designers to connect design systems, software development kits, APIs, and backend services.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture reviews, technical guidance, and mentorship.
Requirements
- Typically 10+ years of experience building complex, reliable, scalable APIs or distributed systems.
- Demonstrated leadership in the technical design and delivery of large projects spanning multiple engineering teams.
- Experience setting technical direction and translating strategy into an executable roadmap.
- Ability to communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs to engineers, cross-functional partners, and senior leadership.
- Preferred experience with backend-for-frontend systems, frontend platform services, developer platforms, design systems, or UI infrastructure.
- Preferred experience using agentic development workflows and working with feature flagging, experimentation, telemetry, or analytics systems.
