Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision and coordinate shared technical direction across multiple Flights teams.
- Contribute to annual and quarterly planning with product managers, engineering managers, and engineers.
- Remain primarily hands-on while mentoring engineers, unblocking delivery, and collaborating with dependent teams.
- Translate business goals into engineering approaches, architectural changes, and actionable priorities.
- Lead cross-squad initiatives, resolve dependencies and blockers, and drive alignment across the organization.
- Design and build reliable systems for flight booking, post-booking, error recovery, and airline inventory scaling.
- Operate production services and improve monitoring, testing, reliability, and incident response practices.
- Raise engineering standards through mentorship, design reviews, pairing, and technical communication.
Requirements
- Experience owning software problems end to end, from understanding customer needs through deployment and measuring impact.
- Proven experience coordinating significant multi-team technical initiatives, managing dependencies, aligning stakeholders, and sustaining longer-term delivery.
- Ability to design scalable, evolvable systems and create pragmatic technical roadmaps.
- Experience monitoring, testing, deploying, and operating services in production.
- Experience working in complex domains such as flights, travel, fintech, or other constrained systems supporting reliable customer-facing products.
- Strong backend experience with comfort working across the full stack; the team’s work is approximately 80% backend and 20% frontend.
- Experience leading observability and reliability practices, defining SLOs, handling incidents, and conducting blameless post-mortems.
- Track record of mentoring engineers through mentorship, design reviews, pairing, and technical leadership.
- Experience with or strong interest in AI-augmented development, agentic coding, and AI-assisted code review.
- Ability to communicate technical complexity to business stakeholders and influence across teams.
