Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, reliable backend services for high-volume digital banking platforms.
- Lead distributed-systems design across service decomposition, asynchronous communication, fault tolerance, idempotency, backpressure, consistency, and graceful degradation.
- Build Java microservices, REST APIs, batch jobs, and event-driven workflows.
- Implement workflows and promote workflow orchestration best practices across services.
- Contribute hands-on to architecture, code quality, delivery execution, operational readiness, design reviews, and code reviews.
- Ensure platforms are extensible, observable, reliable, scalable, and aligned with SLAs.
- Partner with product, architecture, operations, and business stakeholders to translate business capabilities into technical solutions.
- Mentor and coach engineers, resolve complex technical problems, and raise engineering standards.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
- Strong hands-on backend engineering experience with Java and its frameworks.
- Extensive experience building distributed applications and operating scalable, low-latency services in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, XML, service contracts, integration patterns, and API lifecycle practices.
- Hands-on experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, JUnit, JDBC, Gradle or Maven, Jenkins, and modern CI/CD practices.
- Experience with Kafka or similar streaming and event-driven technologies; Kafka Streams experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of distributed systems, caching, high availability, multithreading, and performance analysis.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Experience with continuous integration, automated and repeatable testing, secure coding, and collaborative engineering practices.
- Ability to solve ambiguous problems and make pragmatic technical decisions that enable business capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across engineering, product, architecture, and operations.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and influencing engineers while remaining hands-on.
