Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end architecture across Rental and Digital platforms, including backend services, APIs, and frontend integrations.
- Design and implement cloud-native architectures using microservices, serverless patterns, distributed systems, and event-driven design.
- Define API-first standards and integration patterns using REST, SOAP, GraphQL, event streaming, API versioning, and documentation.
- Lead architecture for reservations, booking orchestration, pricing and rules engines, fleet and availability systems, customer identity, and mobile and web experiences.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, fault tolerance, performance, security, compliance, data governance, and observability across platforms.
- Lead architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, coding and debugging, technical troubleshooting, and solution trade-off analysis.
- Mentor and guide engineers, lead development teams, coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, and promote engineering best practices.
- Guide adoption of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, containerization, orchestration, and observability tools.
- Evaluate technologies, frameworks, and tools; partner with Enterprise Architecture on broader technology strategy and shared services.
- Manage multiple development projects, estimate effort, track progress, ensure process adherence, and support timely delivery.
- Own code quality, application security, functionality, and performance while collaborating with Product Management, Business Development, Operations, frontend engineers, and globally distributed teams.
- Apply and promote AI-enabled development, automation, and intelligent system design practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10–15+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture; the role is also listed as requiring 10–12+ years of experience.
- Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems and software architectures.
- Expertise in Java 8+, JDK, JVM internals, garbage collection, classloading, memory management, tuning, concurrency, and non-blocking programming.
- Strong Spring expertise, including Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, Spring Batch, and Spring AI.
- Experience designing REST, SOAP, and GraphQL APIs with API governance, versioning, documentation, Swagger, and OpenAPI.
- Experience securing APIs and applications using OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, TLS, mTLS, OWASP practices, secrets management, and secure coding.
- Experience with microservices, event-driven systems, distributed transactions, ACID, CAP, eventual consistency, saga patterns, service mesh concepts, and reliability strategies.
- Deep experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging and streaming systems, including partitioning and reliability patterns.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS; Azure and GCP are acceptable alternatives.
- Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, scalability, consistency, resilience, and performance optimization.
- Experience with React and React Native or comparable frontend and mobile integration patterns.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, observability, and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of SOLID, domain-driven design, hexagonal architecture, architecture trade-offs, and reference architecture design.
- Ability to explain architectural decisions, evaluate trade-offs, solve technical problems, and perform coding exercises involving refactoring, abstraction, concurrency, distributed systems, and observability-aware design.
- Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders in globally distributed Agile/Scrum environments.
- AI practitioner or AI-aware professional enthusiastic about applying AI in architecture, development, and platform modernization.
