Base Salary
$102k - $219k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Linux-based service and device management software using C, C++, Python, and systems programming languages.
- Build and optimize distributed systems and cloud services for hyperscale hardware monitoring and management.
- Implement SPI, I2C, GPIO, and UART hardware interfaces and support board bring-up, firmware, U-Boot, and Linux kernel integration.
- Develop telemetry, hardware health monitoring, signal processing, and automated remediation workflows.
- Improve live-site reliability through monitoring, debugging, root cause analysis, repair loops, and service improvements.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, platform, and partner teams on end-to-end hardware-software solutions.
- Translate production and customer feedback into features, bug fixes, reliability improvements, and supportability investments.
- Contribute to open-source ecosystems including Linux and the Open Compute Project.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to pass Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Proficiency in C/C++ systems programming and software design fundamentals.
- Experience with Python, scripting, operating systems, Linux/Unix environments, system-level debugging, and concurrent programming.
- Knowledge of user-kernel interactions, system interfaces, hardware-software integration, and low-level system components.
- Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in a related field, an M.S. with 4+ years of industry development experience, or a B.S. with 8+ years of industry development experience.
- Experience with C#, .NET, Azure, KQL/Kusto, Linux kernel development, device drivers, firmware, BMC, embedded systems, distributed systems, telemetry, observability, datacenter hardware, security fundamentals, or open-source projects is desirable.
Benefits
- The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $102,100–$202,200 per year, with a separate range of USD $133,800–$219,200 per year for specified San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan locations.
